Mobility

The transition to electric mobility has been underway for some time now. Examples include:

• Trains: trains have moved from their original steam engine propulsion to electric propulsion. When there are no overhead lines, electric power is provided by onboard aggregates.
• Ships: ships initially migrated from steam engines to combustion engines. Now, they finally transitioned to electric propulsion, with onboard aggregates supplying the necessary power.
• Cars: today, more and more car brands are transitioning from combustion engines to electric propulsion. Electric power is supplied by batteries. The capacity of a battery determines the range. For distances beyond the batteries' capacity, they are equipped with small onboard aggregates (range extenders).

In all these mobility applications, the space and weight of the aggregates are crucial for efficient propulsion.

Business case

Be-Rex's business case is focused on providing a new generation of compact STaR-based aggregates for mobile applications. The market potential is enormous. The emerging market for electric car range extenders alone is estimated to reach USD 2.79 billion by 2032, with an exponential growth rate of 8.9% over the next eight years.

The compact Be-Rex turbines and pumps are easier to construct and are considered short-term spin-offs designed to generate cash flows, allowing us to accelerate our deep-tech research and capture a significant share of the aggregate market segment.

Projects

Be-Rex is already active in two projects:

• Dutch DoD: development of a portable aggregate that produces 5 kW of electric power. This will replace the aggregate-lorry-jeep combination, simplifying logistics for field operations.
• DFG Project: participation in a research project for our fuel cell blower.

Potential partner

The potential of our STaR technology extends far beyond the scope of Be-Rex. While we cannot exploit all potential applications, we have the knowledge, tools, and experience to assist partners in co-development.
